Three Students Headed to National History Fair

Three high school students will attend the National History Day National Contest in June after successful entries in the state history fair May 20 in Austin. Katie Irwin placed first in the state in the individual exhibit category, and Cailey McLain and Jenna Anastasiades placed second in the group exhibit category at the state fair. The national fair will be held at the University of Maryland June 14 with scheduled side trips for participants to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Congratulations Rattler historians and NHS History Fair director Kathy Day!

Sophomore Earns Trip to State Track Meet

Rodney Brown will represent Navasota at the UIL State Track & Field Championships in Austin June 2. Brown took second place at the regional meet with a throw of 156' 9" in the discus.

It is hard to believe another year has gone by. Our students are preparing for semester exams. Our tstaff and students are all looking forward to a few months of vacation.

This year graduation will be especially special for me as I have my own senior crossing the stage. However, this whole group of seniors are very special to me. I have seen them grow up along with my daughter. I have watched them mature into the young men and women that they are now. They were seventh graders when I came to Navasota as an administrator. I find it hard to believe that in just a few short months they will be going off to college. I wish them all luck and success in the future. This group will always hold a special place in my heart.

For the underclassmen, I look forward to next year! I hope I can bring about the stability you need at the high school level. My goal is to help provide the best quality education for each of you while in high school. We are here to help prepare you for the future. I can't wait to see you perform both in and out of the classroom. Have a great summer and I will see each of you in August.
